Tredbase is a platform that simplifies school fee payments for K-12 schools. With the goal of improving payment efficiency, Tredbase allows schools to streamline their fee collection process through a mobile platform that offers real-time updates, notifications, and fee structure management. Streamlining Tuition Management for Schools
Problem
Many K-12 schools face inefficiencies in managing school fee payments, including delayed collections, lack of real-time updates, and challenges in tracking payment statuses. These issues often result in administrative burdens, poor communication with parents, and financial management challenges, creating a need for a streamlined and transparent payment solution
For many schools, managing and tracking fee payments is a manual, inefficient process. The current methods often result in late payments, miscommunication with parents, and a heavy administrative burden. Specific problems included:

We needed to address these issues by providing a seamless, automated solution for both schools and parents.
User Interview and Survey
We began by identifying our core users which are school administrators and parents. We created personas to represent their goals, needs, and frustrations. We were able to figure through the interviews and surveys that Administrators wanted an efficient, easy-to-use system to track payments, while parents needed a simple way to stay informed and pay on time.
To further understand the pain points, we conducted interviews with over 20 school administrators and surveyed about a hundred parents. The insights revealed that:
70% of parents missed payment deadlines due to lack of timely reminders.
Administrators spent an average of 10 hours per week manually managing payments, a process that could be automated.
Lack of transparency: Both groups expressed frustration with the unclear payment statuses and tracking systems, making it difficult to confirm completed or pending payments.
Wireframes and Low-fidelity Prototypes
Our goal was to design a streamlined, user-friendly interface that addressed both school administrators’ and parents’ needs. We created low-fidelity wireframes to sketch out the initial design concepts, focusing on reducing the number of steps required to send payment reminders and track payments..

To validate design decisions and ensure a user-centered experience, we conducted usability testing through a combination of remote Maze tests and in-person 1:1 sessions with school administrators and parents.
Maze Testing helped gather quantitative insights on task completion, navigation paths, and user drop-off points.
In-Person Testing provided deeper qualitative feedback, revealing pain points and areas of confusion.
The insights gathered guided multiple design iterations—improving features like fee breakdown clarity, the multi-student payment flow, and the overall notification experience.
After refining the wireframes based on feedback from user testing, we developed high-fidelity mockups. These designs focused on clean, minimal interfaces that emphasized ease of use and clarity. The key screens included:
Dashboard: A simplified dashboard for administrators, showing payment statuses at a glance.
Notification System: Easy-to-create notifications with options for scheduling and saving templates.
Real-time Payment Updates: School Admins receives real time updates when payments are made, ensuring transparency.
The payment mobile application is designed to provide parents with a convenient and user-friendly platform to seamlessly pay their child's fees from anywhere, using their smartphones. Features include:
In-App Fee Breakdown: Guardians gets a clear breakdown of all fees, including tuition and miscellaneous charges, with due dates for transparency.
Multi-Student Payment System: Manage payments for multiple students in one interface, with the option to pay individually or in bulk.
Payment History: View completed transactions, pending payments, and refunds, with filters for easy tracking. Real-time updates provide immediate confirmation.
